Start the New Year with a Revitalizing Chemical Peel

As the new year opens, are you noticing that your skin doesn’t seem as fresh as you’d like it to be? Does it feel rough and coarse? Are age spots, wrinkles, and other flaws making you look older than you are?

The new year is a great time to revitalize your skin with a chemical peel. Having a chemical peel can reduce the signs of aging on your skin, such as sun damage, uneven tone, and a disappointing texture.

At Women’s Healthcare of Princeton in Princeton, New Jersey, our team of professional medical aestheticians offers a variety of skin care services to patients in the greater New York City, New Jersey, and eastern Pennsylvania areas. We help your skin look its radiant best.

What is a chemical peel?

A chemical peel is a noninvasive clinical skin treatment that freshens and revitalizes your skin via the application of a specially formulated chemical solution. This safe, gentle solution facilitates the removal of the topmost layer of your skin.

As our chemical solution dissolves away damaged skin, it removes or reduces flaws in the skin of your face, neck, or hands. After our aestheticians wash away the chemical solution, your age spots, fine wrinkles, and other imperfections disappear or are minimized. Your skin is smoother, younger looking, and more attractive.

We offer several types of chemical peels: a light superficial peel (also known as a lunchtime peel because it can be done in a short amount of time), a medium peel, and a deep peel. Our aestheticians can help you decide which peel is best for you based on your beauty goals, skin type, and skin damage.

What to expect during a chemical peel treatment

Receiving a chemical peel is an enjoyable opportunity to pamper yourself. During your treatment, your aesthetician applies a solution to your skin using gauze or a gentle brush. The type of solution used varies based on the depth of your peel.

After your treatment, you may experience some redness, scaling, or swelling for a few days (for a superficial peel) or for up to three weeks (for a deep peel).

We send you home with specific care instructions including information on how to cleanse your peel-treated skin, what types of moisturizers to use on it, how long to avoid the sun, and what type of makeup would best suit your post-peel skin.

For deeper peels, you may receive a prescription for an antiviral medication to protect your skin as it heals.
